FIREFIGHTERRENO
The Reno Fire Department utilizes a network of seventeen fire stations strategically placed throughout the City of Reno and Washoe County to allow effective response of resources to all service areas within acceptable times.
There are over 300 uniformed personnel, divided into two battalions and three work shifts.
RFD is a wildland/urban interface fire department with 7 brush trucks in the Metro Division, 6 brush trucks in the Rural Division and volunteer stations scattered through out Washoe County. Native vegetation during the hot and dry summer wildland fire season is a constant threat to man made structures within the city and the surrounding region.
The fire department is expected to respond to over 30,000 calls for service in the year 2010. Stations outside the City of Reno provide Advanced Life Support & EMT-Intermediates, to areas where medical assistance can be far away.
