FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDICOMAHA
The mission of the Omaha Fire Department is to respond to community public safety needs minimizing risk to life, health, and property threatened by the hazards of fire, trauma, medical emergencies, acute illness, and other hazardous conditions by adopting a proactive philosophy through response, prevention and public education.
Omaha Fire has 23 fire stations throughout the city that are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by trained professional firefighters. Currently the fire department maintains a compliment of more than 640 firefighters, Fire Apparatus Engineers, Captains, Battalion Chiefs, and Assistant Chiefs.
The Omaha Fire Department serves the emergency medical needs of the city with 13 Advanced Lifesaving Paramedic staffed Medic Units. All of the fire trucks are equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s). In 2009, the Omaha Fire/Rescue Department responded to more than 25,000 emergency medical calls.

The Lincoln Fire Department responds to more than 30,000 emergency and non-emergency requests for service each year from 14 stations utilizing more than 120 personnel.
The Lincoln Fire Department is accredited by The Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) is dedicated to assisting the fire and emergency service agencies throughout the world in achieving excellence through self assessment and accreditation in order to provide continuous quality improvement and the enhancement of service delivery to their communities. The CFAI process is voluntary and provides and agency with an improvement model to assess their service delivery and performance internally.
